Kingston is Ontario's oldest
city, and for a short time was the capital of the united Upper
and Lower Canadas. It is often referred to as the Limestone
City since there are many beautiful old limestone
buildings.
Kingston is also known as
the Fresh Water Sailing Capital of North America for its excellent
sailing conditions. It is situated at the eastern end of Lake
Ontario in addition to being at the start
of the picturesque 1000 Islands, at the mouth of the St. Lawrence
river. Furthermore it is at the southern end
of the Rideau Canal linking to Canada's capital,
Ottawa.
Kingston is home to many
interesting museums, including Fort Henry, and a beautiful downtown
district, only minutes away from the location of Canada DanceSport.
